In February 2019, Netflix announced it had acquired another South African drama series: Blood & Water. This new original Netflix series was directed by Nosipho Dumisa, produced by Bradley Joshua and Benjamin Overmeyer and written by Daryne Joshua and Travis Taute.
The whole two seasons are available to watch on Netflix. You can find one or two episodes of season 1 on YouTube as well.
The series is compelling for its narrative. It involves themes such as human trafficking, alcohol/drug abuse, and sexuality. The fact that it’s an entirely African series with diverse African actors makes it an interesting window into the continent’s cinematography.
After taking two DNA tests, it was revealed that Fikile is the daughter of Thandelka alone, making her Puleng’s half-sister.
